For some time now, I’ve wanted to write up a set of articles on my thoughts and ideas of practicing. These come from my own experiences, my conversations with other guitarists/musicians, the help I received while attending school, and the help I give out to my students on a regular basis. Also, concepts and ideas have come from many different sources, including Richard Provost’s The Art and Technique of Practicing, watching other guitarists give master classes and discuss how they would go about practicing a piece or an issue of a piece, my training as a Suzuki Instructor, and other sources. My original plan was to write up these articles and present them to my students up at UConn, however I feel that posted here all the readers of this Blog can at least get some ideas from the articles or at least my own point of view of practicing.
This page is set up to allow quick access to my practice articles that I’ve written for this Blog. This will allow the reader the easiest access to the information for later reference, rather then having to search through the blog.
